CHAIRS! CHAIRS! CHAIRS!
EuroTreasures.... Salt Lake City,
10's of thousands of square feet of
antiquing bliss!
You don't approach a trip to EuroTreasures the way you would an ordinary antiquing excursion. It's just not a casual event. One prepares himself for
the experience. If you think of the usual antiques shop as a church, EuroTreasures is a Cathedral.
EuroTreasues is huge. You could easily fit 8 or 10 typical antiques malls
into this cavernous building siding 600 south as you enter the city. And, due to owner and antiques guru Scott Evans penchant for "higher and deeper", it can be a bit daunting to take it all in. There are 1000's of antique sideboards, dressers, wardrobes and the like, arranged as if dropped from the heavens into haphazard piles and stacks, accessed by a maze of small alleys and passages. At the very least, to explore this remarkable shop, you need to set aside a bit of time, and
you might want to take a bottle of water, maybe pack a lunch, or at least
grab a little granola or an energy bar.
If you have never been to EuroTreasures you've missed what is perhaps
Utah's most fascinating antiquing experiences. You'll find a $10,000 Hunt
Cabinet standing in the shade of a stack of $200 rustic commodes and
$20.00 antique chairs. African art & objects mingle with Utah's best selection
of arts and crafts furnishing, and the place bulges with "as is" pieces, budget
priced and perfect for restoration, reimagined or up-cycled projects. All watched over by a full body mount African lion and a menagerie of lesser creatures.
AND AS I MENTIONED ABOVE
CHAIRS! CHAIRS! CHAIRS!
They must be breeding. They seem to be roaming the shop with no natural predators. Everywhere you look you find a chair peeking at you from behind
a bookcase or dresser, or lined up like a firing squad. Thousands have been herded to the back of the building and stacked in a pile as high as the rafters. Sets and single chairs, Victorian to art deco, interlocked in a pile
as intricate as a Chinese puzzle box.
THROUGHOUT JUNE, EVERY CHAIR AT EUROTREASURES IS ON SALE
For as little as $10, you can buy an antique chair, that with a bit
