Time to say goodbye to some old friends....

My oldest friends in the antiques business are probably Randy and Jane Tanski, who own the "world famous" Sandy Antiques Mall.  We met doing Jim Reese's antiques shows at the Salt Palace back in the late 1980's, and both opened antique shops in the Sandy area at about the same time.  The Tanski's, being more experienced and sure footed opened an antiques mall on State Street, and I opened a little hole in the wall up on 9th East, that would have fit in their bathroom.

That was about 30 years ago, and the Sandy Antiques Mall has grown and improved most every year since then.  I can't really say that about Randy and I, although our wives seem remarkably unchanged over the years, we seem to be getting a little long in the tooth. And, since these days, you are more likely to find Randy on the golf course than in the shop, thier decision to retire isn't exactly a shock.

Anyway, there is a mountain of antiques and collectibles to be sold before Randy starts rocking on the porch.  Along with the shop inventory and fixtures, there is a lot of things coming out that I've never seen before.  So get yourself down to the Sandy Antiques Mall and say goodbye to Randy and Jane, and pick up a treasure or two at a bargain price.

The Sandy Antiques Mall is located at"
8672 South State Street - Sandy,
and is open from 10:00 to about 5:00 Monday through Saturday

FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH

There's a fun event it you can get down to Payson tomorrow.  It's a fund raiser for the Peteetneet Academy, which is an old school house that now houses the Payson City Museum. There will be an outdoor market, along with an appraisal event sponsored by the Utah Antiques Dealers Association.  Appraisal are $5.00 an item to be donated to the Museum.  Grab your goodies, and come down and find out what they are worth, have a good time, and support a good cause.

SEE YOU THERE!

From the Acorn grows a mighty, well, Antiques Show!

I stopped by the Acorn's Antique & Vintage show this morning to drop off a stack of New Century Collectors for tonight's opening , and nosed around and watched the dealers set up for a while.  Wow.  This is going to be a great show.  Golden Oak furniture, glassware, pottery, linens, toys, advertising, primitives.... just everything.  And piled higher and deeper.  I don't care what you're looking for, you stand a good chance finding it at Acorns this weekend.  Here are some pic's I took while I walked around.  See you there this weekend.

IT'S ACORN'S.... JUST GET THERE!

How to decide.  First in line... last in line.  First day, last day. Hustle & bustle or miss the crowds.  No matter how you like to shop; obsessed with being first to see everything, or scouting out bargains on closing day,  there is only one place to be this weekend. That's ...

ACORN'S ANTIQUE & VINTAGE SHOW

This weekend, promoter Heidi Wilcock brings her Mothers Day installment of Northern Utah's premier antiquing event to the Weber County Fairgrounds. With dealers from across the west, Acorn's offers antiques and collectibles you just can't find anywhere else. That's why experienced collectors never miss this one.

We all know that nobody's mom wants another toaster, and Acorns is the place to pick up that unusual gift.  Or, better yet, take her to the show on Sunday, and let her pick out just what she wants. Either way it's sure to make you her favorite.  And remember, Acorns now opens Friday evening from 5 until 9 for those shoppers who love an early peek.

Rocky mountain Antiques Festival.... picture perfect!

I Stopped by the Rocky Mountain Antiques Festival, which opens tomorrow morning (Saturday May 7th, @ 9:00 am) at the South Towne Expo Center, to drop off a stack of New Century Collectors for their customers, and all I could think was WOW!  This is a large show, and has something for everybody.  Along with some of Utah's best show dealers, were lots of out of state dealers, and the booths were stuffed with lots of things you don't always see around Utah.

It's true, a picture is worth a thousand words, so here are a basketful.  First is a 2 for 1 ticket, so you can get in for a pittance.
